Visiting A Mushroom Facility
I recently got the opportunity to visit the former Smallhold Farms mushroom grow facility in Buda, Texas (I guess they were over-leveraged?). They recently sold it; the new owner is trying to scale mushrooms without the same overhead.
What's so impressive is the sheer scale of the facility. Sometimes I think about how tech has the ability to reach millions of customers - that's why software engineers get paid so well. But when you're operating on the scale of shipping out hundreds of thousands of boxes of mushrooms a week, you're impacting just as many people.
